Zaid Alissa

Freelance data engineer and AI systems architect.
Before going solo, I built machine learning pipelines for fintech startups, wrangled real-time data for major banks, and reverse-engineered a few too many legacy systems to count.

These days, I help companies design robust, AI-ready infrastructure and mentor teams on everything from data modeling to deploying fault-tolerant architectures in the cloud. When I'm not in the zone, I'm probably backtesting a trading idea or explaining MLOps to someone over coffee.

Let's work together

I provide freelance consulting in data science, AI, and infrastructure design. Whether you need robust ML pipelines, strategic AI integration for your business, or fault-tolerant cloud architectures, I'm here to help.

About this website

Hand‑rolled with Next.js, shadcn/ui, and Tailwind CSS in Visual Studio Code, then deployed on Cloudflare Pages for the princely sum of $0/month. Design inspiration comes from the stellar work of Matt Chapman, Josh Comeau, Chris Bakke, and Brittany Chiang—plus my love for dark mode everything. Thanks for stopping by.

About me

I’ve been tearing gadgets apart since I could hold a screwdriver—half the fun was figuring out how to put them back together. That hands‑on curiosity nudged me into a robotics master’s program right as the whole world was chanting “Big Data, Big Data!” Cue a move to Berlin and a second master’s at Data Science Retreat, where I swapped late‑night vegan currywurst for even later‑night Spark clusters.

Now it's 2025, "AI" has bulldozed every other buzzword, and my excitement for new tech hasn't cooled a bit. Over the years, I've built and debugged systems for heavyweight banks, scale-up fintechs, and just‑ hatched startups. These days, I spend most of my time advising teams on how to turn impossible data streams into fast, fault‑tolerant pipelines—and how to weld AI neatly on top without blowing the fuses. blowing the fuses.

Four quick facts

  • Always juggling tech, trading, investing, and teaching. When ideas collide, interesting things happen.
  • Quant mindset. If a trading strategy can’t survive back‑testing, it’s a glorified coin flip. Same rule, different projects.
  • Languages: native Spanish and Arabic, decent English. (Also fluent in Python, SQL, C++, a touch of Rust.)
  • Black‑on‑black everything. Editors, t-shirts, terminal themes—if it’s not dark mode, I’ll probably dark‑mode it.
